Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is illegal. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that contains many luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
