Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are apparently needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
